Hi, I’m glad you found your way here. My name is Juan Reyes and I’m an entrepreneur, software engineer, and writer. I have over 15 years of experience in the tech industry and have had the opportunity to work with some of the biggest players in mobile development, web development, and e-commerce in Japan and the US.
Additionally, I sometimes volunteer my time as an entrepreneurship mentor in Tucson and co-host the Don’t Tell my Grandma podcast. You can find some of my writing about mental health and self-development for people of color on my blog ajourneyforwisdom.com.
Why BuildTheStack?
The purpose of this website is to be a resource for all developers beginning their unique journey in the industry.
Like many of you, I found myself lost in the mountain of responsibilities and the shame and self-doubt associated with it. I felt deeply inadequate and unprepared. I was just a fresh graduate engineer with abundant aspirations and scarce experience. And of course, being a minority doesn’t help.
But hey, it doesn’t have to be that way for you.
If you feel overwhelmed or lost, I want you to know that you are not alone. Help and resources are out there, you just have to look for them.
Over the years, I have written extensively on mobile development, testing, security, sustainable technologies, hiring, training, and best practices. Some of that content will find its way here. And hopefully, some will find its way to you. In the meantime, I’m always available to have a chat and talk about your unique challenges and uncertainties. As a resource for your growth.
So I hope that this site becomes a habitual destination, or at least, a place of solace after a long search for answers.
